With this drawing, I want to create conflicting spaces that carry variations of the same psycho-spiritual feeling. The mixture of public and private is important here. The private setting is the only one that is at all populated via the computer monitor. The public setting is eerily devoid of figures. These contrasts, I think allow for a psychological balancing agent. This is one of the first in a series of works that explore the delicate and intimate characteristics of home by invading it with outside forces.
The theme of invasion of the home is a central gothic motif, a literary echo. Its literary function was to add a lyrical sensibility that allowed readers imagine hidden meanings behind the mundane. The hidden meaning in the mundane is naturally a central theme in my work.
